一 |     NEW YORK -- Qatar Airways Group chief executive Akbar Al Baker is stepping down after 27 years leading the company.Al Baker's retirement will go into effect Nov. 5, Qatar Airways said Monday. He will be succeeded by Badr Mohammed Al-Meer — who currently serves as the chief operating officer of Hamad International Airport in Doha, the hub of Qatar's national carrier. In Monday's announcement, Qatar Airways said that it “has grown to become one of the most recognisable and trusted brands globally” under Al Baker's leadership. The company pointed to seven “World's Best Airline” wins, among other allocates.During his tenure at Qatar Airways, Al Baker became known for being one of the most outspoken leaders in the airline industry — with a hard-changing, sometimes confrontational approach that carried into negotiations with manufacturers and others.Al Baker has also made some controversial comments over his career — including suggesting that women can’t run airlines and for calling American carriers “crap” and that their passengers were “always being served by grandmothers.” He later apologized for both remarks.Last year, Al Baker lashed out at critics of Qatar hosting the FIFA World Cup, saying his nation will “always rub salt into the wound” of its adversaries — following concerns from some other countries and soccer teams over how Qatar manages its vast population of low-paid migrant workers and its stance on LGBTQ rights. In July, Qatar Airways reported a profit of $1.2 billion over the last fiscal year, boosted in part by the country’s hosting of the 2022 FIFA World Cup. That's down slightly from the $1.5 billion profit posted the year prior — in part due to a spike in operating expenses, particularly in jet fuels as energy prices rose after the grip of the pandemic loosened and air travel resumed.Qatar Airway's earned revenue of $20.9 billion over the fiscal year, up from $14.4 billion the year before.。    The release of Akhanda 2, starring Balakrishna, which was supposed to release on December 5, 2025 has been postponed indefinitely. On Wednesday, The Madras High Court passed injunction orders against the film producers over an earlier financial arbitral. While the efforts for a smooth release of Akhanda 2 are currently on, fans and film trade are hoping that the issue would be resolved amicably soon facilitating a smooth release. Amid crisis, we have learnt that Balakrishna has reportedly stepped in to ease out the burden on the filmmakers.          Balakrishna, Boyapati cut down remunerations?     According to sources, Balakrishna is doing his bit to help and bail out the producers of Akhanda 2. He had reportedly agreed to forgo 25 percent of his remuneration. Not just Balayya, but the film’s director Boyapati Srinu had also agreed for a pay cut in his fee to bring down the load. The damage for the film has already been done – trade pundits predict that Akhanda 2 may have lost significant revenue (approximately Rs 10 cr) from its Thursday premieres, had they been screened. Adding to the existing woes, slotting another good release date and holding good theatres overseas is another task. While Akhanda 2 team exudes confidence that the film will strike a chord with the audiences whenever it releases, we have to wait and see as to when the issue would be resolved.          Producer Suresh Babu reacts…     Suresh Babu shared his opinion when asked to comment about the present Akhanda 2 release crises. The veteran producer is presenting an upcoming Telugu film. As part of the film’s press conference, he was asked to comment about the Akhanda 2 turmoil. He expressed confidence that the issue would be resolved soon. “Those (legal and financial issues of Akhanda 2) are all financial matters and should not be discussed in the open. Unfortunately, the business aspect (of a film) is going too much to the streets. Why are we getting into all those details, audiences have to watch a film, that’s it, said Suresh Babu recalling that financial issues do exist. Also Read: Explained: Here’s Why Court Halted The Release of Balakrishna’s Film Akhanda 2。
